In July 2016 we returned to Pakistan for a trek to Nanga Parbat Base Camp in the Western Himalayas.

We flew into Skardu, and then took a round-about route to Tarishing, the start of the Nanga Parbat Base Camp, via the Deosai Plains.

The Deosia Plains are the second highest plateau in the world after the Thang Plateau in Tibet and has an average elevation of over 4,114m (13,497ft), and is famous for it's amazing alpine flora (which we did see) and critically endangered Himalayan brown bare (which we didn't).

Nanga Parbat is the 9th highest mountain in the world, standing at 8,126m (26,660ft) and has the highest mountain face in the world, the Rupal Face, which rises 4,600m (15,090ft) from its base - and incidentally, we camped under.

The views were stunning, the alpine flora was in full bloom, and these are some of the pictures I took during the trek. There are a few pictures of people (not too many, though), lots of wide open vistas and loads of flowers (for which I make no apologies).

Our Camps are marked on the map, and here are some Wikipedia links:
