2014 - Pakistan: Naltar Valley Karakoram

Another trip to Gilgit-Baltistan in the summer of 2014. A shorter trip this time, as we had to be back in the UK in time for our wedding! We spent the time trekking in the Naltar Valley.

Another year, another trek in the Karakoram. After some delays reaching Gilgit due to the cancellation of our Islamabad/Gilgit flight we drove the KKH... again. But this time with an overnight stop half way - it still took about 18 hours driving, and to put this into perspective it was a 1.5 hour flight back.

The plan was for a trek at a lower altitude than last year, and so Bari our guide suggested a trek up to the head of the Naltar Valley. It was a gorgeous valley, vegetated in the lower part and becoming more barren and dramatic the higher we went.
