In July 2017 on what is becoming our traditional annual trip to the mountains in Pakistan we camped and trekked in the Deosai Pains.
This time we were accompanied by our friends David, from Addis Ababa with whom we'd been trekking in
the
Simien Mountains in 2015 and the
Danakil Depression earlier in the year,
and Vicky who hadn't been (proper) camping and trekking before, but seemed to enjoy it.
The Deosai Plains are the second highest plateau in the world, over 4,100m surrounded by 5,000-6,000m peaks. We camped near the northern entrance to the Plains
for a few days and did some day walks and drives to acclimatise. Then we walked out of the Plains via the Burji La pass back down to Sadpara village.
