In the summer of 2013 we went to Pakistan for a fortnight dividing the time between the
Hunza Valley in the Karakoram and Lahore. We arrived in Islamabad and drove up the
Karakoram Highway to Gilgit (the journey took 18 hrs!), and then on to
Karimabad for a couple of days before trekking for four days in the Passu region of the Hunza Valley.
Then back to Islamabad (by air this time - 1hr) and then by road to Lahore, were we visited
some beautiful Moghul era mosques and other cultural sites.
The Karakoram is really beautiful - a stark contrast between the lush green
valley bottoms and the barren rock and snow of the mountains. And the apricots
and cherries were to die for!
